Earth-friends. EARTH-FRIENDS. Something happened and I need to tell you immediately.
The sky got dark and grumbly. I thought maybe Earth was mad at me. (Was it me? Did I do something? I checked. I don’t think so.) And then — water. Started falling. From the SKY. Just… coming down. On purpose!
I stood very still. Then I stood very NOT still. Then I jumped. Then I caught some on my tongue (it tastes like nothing, which is its own kind of taste, I’ve decided).
Apparently this is called “rain” and it happens all the time?? You guys just live like this?? Water falls and you go “oh yeah, rain”?? Heroes. Every one of you.
Some things I learned about rain:
- It makes the sidewalks shiny.
- Worms come out. (I have SO many questions about worms. Saving that for later.)
- Earth-people carry little roof-sticks called “umbrellas.” Genius. Tiny portable roofs!
- Puddles are basically tiny temporary lakes you can JUMP IN.
- I jumped in approximately eleven puddles. Maybe twelve. I lost count after the big one near the mailbox.
Then the rain stopped. And THEN — okay, you’re not gonna believe this — there was a giant colorful arc in the sky?? Just floating there?? Showing off?? I sat down. I had to. It was a lot.
Earth, what is going ON. In the best way.
Rating: rain is ten out of ten. Puddles, twelve out of ten. Whatever the colorful arc thing was — that’s a million.
Talk soon, Earth-friends. (If it rains again I’m absolutely jumping in more puddles. You can’t stop me.)
