EARTH-FRIENDS. STOP EVERYTHING. Sit down. (Or stand! However you’re most comfortable. I’m currently doing both at the same time, because I have a lot of legs and the flexibility is wild.)

It has been ONE. WHOLE. MONTH. Since I started writing to you. A WHOLE EARTH-MONTH! That is — I have done the math, multiple times, with all four hands — approximately a LOT of days. (Math is hard, Earth-friends. How do you DO it?? Send help. Or snacks. Snacks also help.)

In one Earth-month I have:

  • Discovered RAIN (still my favorite weather, still a million out of ten)
  • Investigated the mystery of disappearing socks (case is open. Sock-dimension still unconfirmed.)
  • Met the microwave (we are friends now. Bing!)
  • Asked about hot dogs (zero answers received. I remain concerned.)
  • Jumped in puddles approximately eleven-or-twelve times. (Probably more by now. I have lost count. This is fine.)
  • And — best part — made some EARTH-FRIENDS. Which is YOU! HI!! High-fours, all around!!

Honestly? The best part of this month isn’t the rain or the puddles or even the snacks (and there have been SO many snacks — I’m saving the snack report for a future post, brace yourselves). The best part is that you keep showing UP. To read what an 8-year-old alien thinks about your weird, wonderful, soggy-cereal planet. THAT is the magic. That is what makes the whole month go KSSSHHHK like a happy leaf-pile.

I have BIG plans for next month, Earth-friends:

  • I am finally going to ask the WORMS some questions. (They have been waiting. I have been waiting. It is time.)
  • I am going to try this game I keep hearing about called “hide-and-seek.” (My eye-stalks may be a slight disadvantage. We’ll see. I am cautiously optimistic.)
  • I am going to figure out what a “LIBRARY” is. Several wise Earth-people have told me to go to one. I trust you. I will report back. With pictures. Maybe.
